It had a good beat, and didn't do my head in, but the DJ was no Readers' Wifes!Robinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08704508224138628442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5545084367530803393.post-23682867728893870572008-09-22T19:16:00.000+01:002008-09-22T19:16:00.000+01:00It was one of the all-time great Duckie nights, on...It was one of the all-time great Duckie nights, one of those moments when one has a Moment. With the Readers Wifes alone, it'd be a superb experience (and, much as I enjoy a good XXL, I invariably miss Duckie-standard choonz); when music and cabaret come together, it can be nothing short of transcendent.Pogonophilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04152529963123007230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5545084367530803393.post-18838393400422622652008-09-22T18:47:00.000+01:002008-09-22T18:47:00.000+01:00Ah, I've heard tell of Dickie Beau's Dorothy befor...Ah, I've heard tell of Dickie Beau's Dorothy before, and it sounds chilling. I don't entirely regret not going to Duckie (as I was at XXL for the first time, and it was fun) but I'm a little sad I missed that particular performance.Robinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08704508224138628442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5545084367530803393.post-415594120289736922008-09-21T20:56:00.000+01:002008-09-21T20:56:00.000+01:00Oh, maybe it was Give Me More. I thought I picked up lyrics about chasing rainbows (and concluded that it was a mash-up version of Judy Garland) but too much Stella may have buggered my hearing. And I'm only passingly familiar with the Britney meisterwerk, so I might well have missed it. Britney would certainly fit with the Young Girls Consumed By Lupine Celebrity theme.Pogonophilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04152529963123007230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5545084367530803393.post-25397371625240263472008-09-21T20:34:00.000+01:002008-09-21T20:34:00.000+01:00I'm gald I'm not the only one who thought it was G...I'm gald I'm not the only one who thought it was Give me More.

I was beginning to think my theory about it all was based on a false premise.Garethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05741297277920030040noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5545084367530803393.post-64571870582894832832008-09-21T20:27:00.000+01:002008-09-21T20:27:00.000+01:00When Dickie Beau started his act, I thought it was...When Dickie Beau started his act, I thought it was going to be a "ho-hum Amy's not here so enjoy this one" rather lackluster performance, and it ended up being one of the single best cabaret acts I've seen at Duckie. I found myself still considering it this afternoon.

I thought that opening number was "Give Me More" by Britney Spears? Which I also thought was a well-planned touch. It was very interesting the way the audience was drawn in with laughter and by the end I felt almost terrified and yes, sad.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04880388772522242440noreply@blogger.com
